MURRELLS INLET. Features mesquite-grilled dishes. As its name might suggest, the atmosphere pays homage to the Old West with cow memorabilia lining the walls and tablecloths patterned with cowboy boots. A fun place to visit; located on the salt marsh.

MYRTLE BEACH. The decor at Cagney's may defy classification, but you can rest assured that it's charming and attractive. Each of the several dining rooms is liberally sprinkled with antiques and architectural relics from years past, creating an appealing atmosphere of history and casual style. So what do folks eat here? Well, you can go upscale or casual, which makes this a good choice for families. Prime rib and steaks are deservedly popular, but the burgers and entree salads are equally good choices. Even dessert has elegant (Bavarian chocolate crepes) and casual (soft serve ice cream parfait) options.

MYRTLE BEACH. A huge favorite among the locals, this restaurant features baby-back ribs and grilled steaks, along with a good variety of seafood. An open kitchen and great atmosphere make this a must on your casual dining list. Due to its popularity, you should probably call ahead or be prepared to endure a long wait.

MYRTLE BEACH. You may be at the beach, but that doesn't mean you have to eat seafood every single night! Chuck's does serve seafood, but the big draw is steak: thick, juicy, grilled steak. Add a fluffy baked potato and a trip to the legendary salad bar, and you have the perfect antidote to a week spent scarfing down shrimp and all-you-can-eat fried fish. The lodge-like decor is appealingly non-beachy, but there are lovely views of the inlet too, and the screened porch is a great place to admire the watery landscape.

MYRTLE BEACH. Damon's specializes in ribs ­ big, meaty ribs char-grilled and slathered in a tantalizing sauce. Not a fan of ribs? Well, Damon's obliges, with a well-rounded menu of prime rib, steaks, barbecued chicken, juicy burgers and tasty salads. Even the kids menu will satisfy the pickiest little eaters this side of the Mississippi, with corn dogs, popcorn shrimp, and chicken fingers among the favorites. A great oceanfront location outdoor seating make for a sublime experience any time, and take out is available all day.
